2 Months

Where did the time go?

No pictures today, since I'm busy holding the girl with one hand while she whimpers in her sleep and typing with the other hand. Please excuse all the crazy typos and abbreviations. Let's see, what have we been dealing with the last few weeks:

1. Milk protein allergy - much more severe than Ella's sensitivity. I'm checking labels for hidden sources of milk proteins to avoid the ever-scary appearance of blood in her stool

2. Reflux - mentioned this before, but it's MUCH better now that the doc upped her dose of Zantac

3. Gas - ye, all babies have gas, but my baby's is special. My sister can hear it on the phone from across the room, and it may be another possible reason for the blood in her stool. Simethicone drops wouldn't touch it. Dr put her on Levsin, which at least helps her sleep w/o squirming in pain and waking every 15 minutes, but wow, it's still some verypowerful stuff coming out of that kid's butt I tell you.

4. Oversupply - aka too much milk. A definite issue w/ #3 and I've learned yet another possibility for that mysterious blood (something about excess lactose not being broken down), and a definite cause for our next issue

5. Blocked milk duct - Oh, My Word. This was a pain worse than childbirth. I'm not kidding, and NO I did not forget what childbirth felt like. Luckily, that was resolved before an infection set in.

6. The virus has landed. - Ken was sick Sunday night and stayed home yesterday with it. We thought it was food poisoning, but it looks like I may have a mild case of it now.

7. Shots - Yuck. Who want to see their baby scream & turn purple? The good news is there's this new magic vaccine for rotavirus that's a sweet liquid, not a shot. Hopefully she didn't get it too late.

And finally, the latest thing . . . . .

7. Teething - Oh yes, you read that right. Teething. At two months. Ella started at 3 mo and had her first tooth by 5. The pediatrician thinks, given the drooling, biting, and ella's history, that we'll have a tooth by our 4 month visit. Good grief.

The amazing thing is that with all of this going on, I feel good. I mean, really good. I have ideas for a new writing project that I'm getting pumped up about, and the weather is warming soon an Harper's feeling better, so I can't wait to spend more time outside and out with our playgroup buds. I can just FEEL spring in the air. Rebirth and all that jazz.

Oh, the dreaded blood in the stool! V had that because of an intestinal yeast infection, of all things. (Having done childbirth, blocked duct, mastitis, and thrush while breastfeeding, I can tell you the yeast/thrush is the worst. I'd actually grit my teeth when he latched on and say, "I gave birth to him naturally. I can get through this, too."

And women keep having babies. Nuts, isn't it? But they're just so darn cute. I'm glad you're feeling good. Really, really glad.
