Dairy Craving of the Day: Meche's doughnuts (like Krispy Kreme, but ooeier & gooier) & chocolate muffins
With all the sicknesses going around (yes, Ella was running fever all weekend . . . again), it may just be that Harper's problems were viral and not a milk allergy after all. We're doing a test run tonight.
A couple of weeks ago, Uncle Kevin (a long-time friend of Ken's from Long Island) stopped by. He's currently biking across the U.S., and he made a pit stop in Lafayette for some repairs and a visit. That's right, months of ass on bike all in the name of . . . heck, I don't know what. But he's having a great time and we wish him all the best on his trip. You can check out his trip here, and you can see what crazy trips he's got in store for the future. Kayaking from Canada anyone?
Anyway, while he was here, he made quite an impression on Ella. I do believe she had her first crush. And, like all first crushes, he left her heartbroken. It's no wonder she liked him so much. He read ALL the words in her bug encyclopedia before bedtime. We usually skip most of them and sort of summarize things, but now she knows there's more to the darn book. Great. High five on that one Uncle Kevin.
Until now, this was the only way I got anything done. My mom made the sling for me, and boy is it nice to have the use of both hands once in a while. Her head isn't quite as crooked as it looks. I bunched up the extra tail to form a pillow for her, so that's what she's propped up on.
But much to our pleasant surprise, she just fell asleep in her bouncer last night. Just. Fell. Asleep. Ok, the bad mommy part is she fell asleep watching Sprout (aka PBSKids) with Ella, but so what? She's still on Zantac, but I took her off the other medicine and only need it for rare occasions now. I'm back to giving her Gripe Water
(trumped up herbal tea w/fructose & antacid), and today after I gave it to her, she just passed out and even stayed asleep when I put her down. Yes!!! I also downloaded an hour of dishwasher sounds from the Amazon MP3 White Noise
collections and burned a cd of it. Now I don't have to stay in the bathroom with the water and fan running all the time. WooHoo! Freedom!

What a cutie! I sympathize with the dairy cravings. That Easter I was dairy free, OH how I wanted my rice pie. *sob* And a whole summer without ice cream! I love me my dairy.
I'd've been lost without the sling, both times. I well remember making Vaughan's lunch while simultaneously nursing Nicholas. It was a minor crisis every time the favorite sling was in the washing machine.
Hello, I stumbled upon your blog and I hope you don't mind if I read along. I live just outside of Houma. Grew up in Morgan City though, and my husband works in Lafayette 2 days a week. Anyway, just wanted to say hello!
Melanie
Oh Dear Heavenly Gripe Water. It saved our lives about 4 years ago. I hope it continues to work for you.
Thanks for stopping by Melanie! I had relatives in Houma for a a long time, so I've spent some time there too.
Thanks, offshore wife. I hope so too!
